Providence Bruins announce 2019-20 Team Award winners
Jun 18, 2020Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins have announced the winners of the 2019-20 Team Awards including Team MVP, Best Defenseman and Rookie of the Year. This season's award winners are:
'Three Stars Award' presented by AAA Insurance
The winner of the AAA Insurance 'Three Stars' Award, given to the player with the most 'three stars' nominations during the 2019-20 season, is #16 Brendan Gaunce. Finishing 3rd on the team in points (37), Gaunce led the team in first star, second star and overall nominations this season.
'Best Defenseman Award' presented by Dunkin'
The winner of the Dunkin' 'Best Defenseman' Award, given to the outstanding defenseman for the 2019-20 season, is #44 Josiah Didier. Didier's solid defense and leadership helped the P-Bruins finish with the fewest goals-against in the conference, while also leading the team in plus/minus.
'Hendricks Memorial Fan Appreciation Award'
The winner of the Hendricks Memorial Fan Appreciation Award, given each season to a player for exemplary leadership and on-ice performance, is #28 Paul Carey. Carey was 2nd on the team in goals (22) and points (39), while also serving as team captain.
'Fan Favorite Award' presented by Electrical Wholesalers
The winner of the Electrical Wholesalers 'Fan Favorite' Award, as voted by P-Bruins fans for the 2019-20 season, is #30 Dan Vladar. Vladar was part of a solid tandem for the P-Bruins, posting an impressive 1.79 GAA and a 0.936 save %, with 3 shutouts on the season.
'Plus/Minus Award' presented by Rhode Island Medical Imaging
The winner of Rhode Island Medical Imaging 'Plus/Minus' Award, given to the team leader in plus/minus for the 2019-20 season, is #44 Josiah Didier. The defenseman led the team with a +32 rating, while also contributing 3 goals and 12 assists on the season.
'Leading Scorer Award' presented by National Grid
The winner of the National Grid 'Leading Scorer' Award, given to the team's leading scorer for the 2019-20 season, is #23 Jack Studnicka. The rookie forward led the team with 49 points, while also leading the team in shots and short-handed goals (7).
'Team MVP Award' presented by MetLife
The winner of the MetLife 'Team MVP Award', given to the most valuable player as voted by the team, is #23 Jack Studnicka. Studnicka led the team in goals (23), assists (36) and points (49) in his rookie season with the P-Bruins.
'Rookie of the Year Award' presented by Cross Insurance
The winner of the Cross Insurance Rookie of the Year Award, given to the outstanding rookie of the 2019-20 season, is #23 Jack Studnicka. Studnicka posted an impressive rookie campaign, leading the team in goals, assists and points, and setting a new team record with 7 short-handed goals.
